DPD UK · Reference help
A reference.
The delivery postcode.
Before trying another code, check the original dispatch details and the destination. DPD UK's public tracker asks for a reference and delivery postcode; its reference field includes tracking and calling-card numbers.
Independent guidance, not DPD's tracking service. No reference, postcode, address or payment information is entered, sent or stored on this page. We do not verify a parcel or promise Shippy coverage.
Know which details you have.
Keep the dispatch confirmation or delivery notice beside you. A retailer's order number is not evidence that you have the carrier's shipment reference. Ask the sender to identify the correct reference if several codes are shown.
On a narrow screen, scroll the comparison across to read both columns.
| Detail | Useful check |
|---|---|
| Retailer order number | Use it when asking the shop about your order. Do not assume it is the reference accepted by the carrier. |
| Tracking reference | Find the sender's identified shipment reference. Keep separate references separate; do not join several parcels' codes together. |
| Calling-card number | The current DPD UK form includes this reference type. Follow the form's current instructions rather than guessing that every number on a notice is interchangeable. |
| Delivery postcode | Confirm the destination postcode associated with the shipment. If the dispatch details are unclear, ask the sender to confirm them privately. |
We do not publish a universal DPD number-length rule. A familiar-looking code does not prove the operator, service, destination or existence of a shipment. The order-number guide explains how to find the relevant dispatch detail.
A delivery postcode is not any postcode.
Check the delivery destination, not an unrelated billing address or the shop's postcode. Do not guess a different destination to make a result appear. If the order was sent to a workplace, another household or a different address, clarify the shipment details through the sender's established support channel.
Use the official DPD UK tracker yourself when ready. We do not prefill either field. Enter personal delivery information only after checking the destination website; a message containing the carrier's name is not, by itself, proof of its origin.
This guide concerns the UK tracker. Confirm the actual operator and country on the dispatch notice. It does not establish that all DPD-branded or international services use the same form or reference format.
Check the inputs before drawing a conclusion.
- Return to the original dispatch detail. Check for copied labels, joined references or missing characters. Do not invent replacement digits.
- Confirm the destination privately. Make sure the postcode is the shipment's delivery postcode. Ask the sender if it is unclear.
- Confirm the service. A retailer's dispatch message does not establish which regional carrier service holds the parcel. Use the service actually identified by the sender.
- Keep the actual message and time. A rejected form, an empty history and a delayed refresh are different observations. Preserve the wording for an enquiry without posting the reference or address publicly.
An unsuccessful lookup alone does not prove that a parcel is lost, a message is fraudulent or an app is broken. We have not looked up your shipment. For the event context, use label created without movement or tracking not updating. If there is a delivery notice, the missed-delivery guide helps you prepare the next enquiry without booking anything here.
A clear message for the sender.
Use the retailer's normal private support channel and adapt these placeholders yourself. Do not publish an unredacted label, reference, postcode or address.
Could you confirm the carrier service, shipment reference and delivery destination for my order? I checked the carrier at [date and time] and saw [the actual message]. Which reference should I use, and what is the appropriate next step?
Suggested enquiry only: not a claim form, payment instruction, delivery deadline or compensation promise.
A real look at Shippy
Keep your parcel context together.
Explore Shippy's current iPhone listing and real Add Package screen. Carrier coverage depends on the reference, region and configured providers; this guide does not promise every DPD service is supported.

Source and scope
The UK form labels were checked against DPD UK's public tracking application and its current first-party frontend source on 13 October 2026. No reference or postcode was submitted, and no tracking result was tested.
The preparation and enquiry checklists are Shippy's independent guidance. They do not quote scan schedules, decide claims, book a delivery change or establish universal reference formats. Shippy is independent of DPD and is not endorsed by the carrier.
