Start with the latest actual event
Read the last event’s location, wording and time. It may be a handover, network scan or delivery attempt. Do not infer that the parcel is still physically at that place from the last available scan alone.
Check freshness and warnings
In Shippy, inspect available refresh time, provider information and warnings. A failed provider request is not a new shipment event. If the information is unavailable, keep that uncertainty visible rather than interpreting it as “no problem”.
Compare with the carrier
Open the official carrier tracking page using the same reference. If it has a newer event, note both event times and ask Shippy support about the discrepancy. If neither has changed, the next answer may need to come from the sender or carrier rather than another tracker.
Choose a useful escalation
Record the reference, expected delivery context and last meaningful event privately. Check the carrier’s current service and enquiry process. UPS explains that some long-distance shipments may not receive another scan until the destination hub; that example does not establish a waiting period for every carrier or service.
