Label created, but not shipped?

A tracking number can exist before the carrier receives a parcel. Read the event, not just the fact that a number was generated.

Read the carrier’s wording

UPS distinguishes “Label Created” from a shipment received into its network. USPS similarly distinguishes pre-shipment information from possession. These are carrier-specific labels, not a universal promise that your order is travelling.

Check the reference and source

Use the shipment tracking number from the dispatch notice, not the shop’s order number. Confirm the carrier if you know it, and compare Shippy’s event with the carrier’s own page. Reused, mistyped or incomplete references can give misleading results.

Keep two times separate

Look at when the shipment event happened and when the tracker last checked for information. A recent refresh can return an old event. Refreshing repeatedly cannot create an acceptance scan or prove physical handover.

Ask the sender a specific question

If the expected dispatch has passed, ask whether the parcel was physically handed over and whether another reference applies. Keep the dispatch message and the carrier status together. Use the seller’s or carrier’s current process rather than a fixed waiting period from a generic tracking guide.

Check the copied reference first.

The free browser-only checker helps with spaces, hidden formatting and copied links. It does not validate a carrier’s reference or look up a parcel. Open the format checker.
