Tracking number or order number?

A shop order and a carrier shipment are different records. One order can have more than one parcel, and each may need its own shipment reference.

Start with the dispatch message

Look for an explicit carrier name and tracking link or shipment reference. A purchase confirmation may contain only the shop’s order number. Follow the retailer’s genuine account or dispatch notice rather than guessing from the length of a number.

Check split shipments

If the shop sends items separately, keep the references distinct and give parcels practical labels in Shippy. A delivered event for one parcel does not prove that every item in the order arrived.

Copy carefully

Copy the full tracking reference without extra punctuation, or scan a supported shipment barcode. Check for missed characters and confirm the carrier when known. If an automated carrier guess is uncertain, compare the official tracking link in the dispatch notice.

Keep the reference private

Tracking details can reveal a delivery timeline or location. Send the reference only through appropriate support channels, not in a public review or social demonstration. If Shippy cannot retrieve it, ask the sender which carrier and shipment reference applies.

Check the copied reference first.

The free browser-only checker helps with spaces, hidden formatting and copied links. It does not validate a carrier’s reference or look up a parcel. Open the format checker.
